When Rivers Meet // Rhythm Rust & Static // Album Review

7

When Rivers Meet’s Grace and Aaron Bond met and formed in the Rock capital of the world, Downham Market in Norfolk, the duo combined to acclaim as they independently created their brand of music. On top of that, despite almost constantly touring, they have found time to start a family, just where do they fit it all in! Grace gave birth in March 2026. Baby boy Bobby is doing well and is attending the tour, so the cradle will rock!

The pair share vocal duties with Grace delivering in raw emotive style, Aaron adds depth with succulent harmonies together they blend Americana, Folk and Blues, the music flows with ease and passion, you can feel the spirit and Bond between them. Instrument-wise, Grace plays violin & mandolin, with Aaron adding guitar. They are assisted by James Fox on guitar & percussion, his voice adding a contrasting dimension.

Rhythm Rust & Static sees our couple release their 6th album; you can be sure that it will bring them more attention and awards. As for the songs themselves, a fuzzball of power wraps itself around ‘The Tide Is Turning’, the vocals change from gentle to quite visceral. ‘Uncharted Land’ is surely about a visit to Suffolk, where they recorded the music. ‘Horizon’ sees them stretch out, the song builds softly as Grace’s voice shimmers, the song becomes more dramatic towards its conclusion, making it one of the album’s high points. ‘Bring Life’ is beautifully delivered over a gentle steel guitar; not only is it an album highlight, but it also more than hints at the recent delivery.

Not all the songs hit the mark immediately, but give them a few listens, and they reveal themselves in all their glory.
