Today, New Jersey’s GOOD TEAL and Baltimore’s NOIR BENNY release their explosive and eclectic split, GOOD BENNY. Punk meets hip-hop in a powerful sonic statement built on two intersected worlds. Featuring two collaborative tracks and two individual tracks, the split is a showcase of what Good Teal and Noir Benny are all about. Good Teal start things off with “MAKE NO MISTAKES,” a punchy alternative rock track before diving into the fiery hardcore punk on collab track “COMPANY!” Noir Benny bust out lines over a chaotic electronic beat on “BACKHAND,” before the split ends with Benny and Good Teal vocalist Reg Mason flowing back to back on the confident rap track “BLEUS,” driven by a jazz-inspired beat created by Good Teal producer and guitarist Curt.
Listen to GOOD BENNY HERE.
On the split, Mason shares:
“The mission statement of Good Benny is not a statement but a collection of questions. What happens when a hardcore band and a rapper does a split? What does that look like? Are Hardcore and Hip-Hop sisters or distant cousins? Is the thought of genre-blending in 2026 as captivating as it was in 1996? (Maybe, Maybe not)
There are a few threads that connect Good Teal and Noir Benny. They’re both amalgamations of ideas that should not go together. Both feature fire-hearted punks that always have 16 bars in their back pocket. Both experimentalists, at heart, with an affinity for always doing a little bit more than what’s expected as a byproduct of their interests, not expense. When two stars collide, who are we to do anything but brace for the supernova on impact? THAT is what Good Benny is..”
Good Teal and Noir Benny will team up for four northeast shows next week, dates below.
Good Teal is Reg Mason – Vocals & Bass, Shane Stanton – Drums. Curt Grayson – Rhythm Guitar & Keyboards, and Alex Goldenthal – Guitar.
