ON VISCERAL NEW SINGLE

SHADOW

Bristol alternative quartet Profiler return with their most psychologically charged release to date, Shadow. Where their previous single Late Again explored the push and pull of personal reinvention, Shadow ventures deeper into the self, drawing on the philosophical framework of Carl Jung to confront the parts of ourselves we would rather leave in the dark.

“Shadow is a track that discusses the theme of the inner critic by the philosopher Carl Jung, shares singer Mike. “This song is a conversation with the inner shadow, symbolising a connection to the part of ourselves that we avoid, but needs to be addressed.”

In Jungian psychology, the “Shadow” refers to those aspects of the self that we do not like or wish to be associated with. The suppressed, the denied, the unseen. Profiler transforms this philosophy into a sonic reckoning, crafting a track that is as intellectually compelling as it is emotionally raw.

Shadow arrives in the wake of significant momentum for the Bristol four-piece. Their 2025 EP Masquerading Self marked a pivotal chapter in their story. A first major independent release and a “nu-metal reawakening” that earned them widespread acclaim, including support from BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show with Dan Carter, Future Artists with Sian Eleri, Kerrang! Radio, Kerrang! Magazine, Metal Hammer and BBC Introducing Rock with Alyx Holcombe.

With Shadow, Profiler continues to prove themselves as one of the most thoughtful and compelling voices in the British alternative scene. A band unafraid to look inward, and brave enough to share what they find.
