| Today, London metal force RED METHOD have announced their brand new EP, As In Life, set for release on 17th July. To celebrate the announcement, the band have unleashed a music video for their visceral new single, ‘Counting Corpses‘. As In Life explores unfiltered mental suffering, journeying through a barren landscape of dark themes including misanthropy, solipsism, angst, grief, disaffection, psychosis, and rejection. Despite its frequent occurrence in people’s lives and personal lives attempts to de-stigmatise mental health, we still find it difficult to express and discuss everyday psychological distress. The new EP dwells on the darker and more complex parts of our psyches, ultimately finding unity in the cognitive dissonance that connects us all. The new single, ‘Counting Corpses’, portrays a world where power is exercised through dominance, resources, and influence rather than genuine legitimacy. Unfolding in a climate where regional and global flashpoints intensify propaganda, brinkmanship and military posturing, the song invites us to scrutinise who holds real power; a topic that not only resonates with audiences questioning the narratives surrounding conflict, but also what it means to be human. Speaking on the themes behind the new single, the band comments:
“The lyrics were formed from the idea that a Chaos God had been pushed aside by humanity had broken free to see what his world had become, feeding off the hatred humanity had created. They saw that selfishness and greed is what truly ruled modern day, so the only way to recover the world was to remove the very disease that is humanity. “It’s not about the creature; the creature is just the symbol of destruction, but the message portrayed is that humanity is a virus and must be purged. To make it more coherent and philosophical, the idea got more and more grandiose the more we expanded on the concept of just a mere creature.” Listen to ‘Counting Corpses’ here

ABOUT RED METHOD:
Since the band’s inception, RED METHOD‘s feet have hardly touched the ground. Since releasing the appropriately named For the Sick… before lockdown, the sextet have managed what most could not. Relentless growth fuelled by a furious live presence has earned them the most loyal of fanbases, proudly known as the Bloodline. From barely being able to fit on the local stages, RED METHOD were voted by the fans to headline the Download Festival Boardie Stage and open Bloodstock’s Ronnie James Dio Stage, only two years and three lockdowns later. It’s been a long time coming but the wait is nearly over, no stone unturned as the blood returns to the soil. RED METHOD have spent the last few years selling out venues across the UK and Europe, headlining independent festival, and even being invited to share the stage with artists such as Cradle of Filth, Sleep Token and Infected Rain. The sextet have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring you their biggest year to date. With new music, new videos and a new look, the water is about to run red. |
