One of the most important modern metal bands is about to return with their first album in four years, and I can’t fuckin wait.
Lamb of God is a band that I have seen more times than I remember, a band that has helped me through the rough and helped me celebrate the good, and as I head into an unknown time in my life, Into Oblivion feels quite relatable.
The band’s new album is a 10-track masterpiece that further cements their importance in the modern metal scene and is released with perfect timing for the upcoming headline slot at Bloodstock – I will be there, throwing down with thousands of others.
The album opens with the title track, and immediately you feel that groove that guides the sound we are so used to, provided by John Campbell, the crisp yet devastating drums from Art Cruz, and the heavy as fuck riffs by Willie Alder and Mark Morton are all there and then the unmistakable vocal of Randy Blythe. The result is stunningly heavy and utterly immense.
‘Parasocial Christ’ has some feels of Burn The Priest whilst ‘Sepsis’ is a pit-inducing mass of chaos that shows the band at what is, in my opinion, their best – ripping, throwing down and everything in between.
When I saw the track list and spotted ‘Blunt Force Blues’, I immediately thought that this name kind of sums up Lamb of God. The groove carries some southern blues feels, yet the blunt force sound and power that is created by the band is something that knocks you into next week and my goodness, it’s stunning.
From start to finish, this is as complete an album as you will hear and carries that gritty rawness that we expect from Lamb of God and slaps you around the face with it as the heaviness comes and gut punches you over and over again – but you just head back into the pit for more.
Into Oblivion is up there with the best the band have released before and is a front-to-back slab of brilliance that you will listen to over and over again. Lamb of God have not only gone and done it again with a stunning album, but they have also raised the bar further and set the standard for all other music in the Metal genre.
I can’t wait for my vinyl to arrive!
Into Oblivion is released Friday, 13th March 2026 via Century Media/Epic Records
