Mercy Whip are crafting heavy, metallic hardcore that it set to make your spine chill. The Connecticut band debuted in 2024 with their crushing album And To Dust All Return on Static Era Records and follow it up today with new single “DOGMA.” The furious three minute track boasts nasty riffs, sharp snares, and lingering melodies that take cues from bands like Poison the Well, On Broken Wings, and Sanction. Vocalist Ritchy’s menacing delivery take charge throughout “DOGMA” shouting obliterating lines such as “Fuck your god…Fuck your salvation.” The song is a clear rally against religious indoctrination and towards being able to think for yourself.
Guitarist and lyricist Diego expands on the track:
“There is nothing religion can do for you that you can’t do for yourself. I was raised to fear God, and even more so, to fear what would happen if I ever turned away.
This song is about the collapse that happens when you stop believing out of fear and start searching for your own truth. I lost myself to guilt and obedience, but found myself through hardcore music and through a community that encourages you to think for yourself. It’s about showing that you can build your own purpose and find your own peace.
Liberation starts when you stop letting fear speak for you. Question everything. Assume nothing.”
