Exoneration is a transatlantic metalcore project, bringing together the talents of US based musician Corey Stiles and Dutch artist Arnaud Zijp. The two were united in their goal to create music ‘as diverse as it is uncompromising’ and infused with a positive message, something that would stand out from the pack in approach, attitude and freedom of expression. The first full length album from this driven duo is now ready to be unleashed – and in Monuments To Nothing they have captured all the power, positivity and unfettered creativity they had dreamt of.From the first moment Monuments To Nothing attacks with every weapon in its arsenal, thrusting the listener into the ever evolving inferno of opener ‘The Abyss We Crown’, a staggering cornucopia of intimidating vocals, gargantuan riffs, threads of melody, forceful rhythms and punishing heaviness. From there the album demonstrates deftly integrated, extreme contrasts – savagely intense guttural vocals and choral chants, beautiful melodic passages and violent, crushing brutality; tempos ranging from the stone draggingly monolithic to the blisteringly furious…unpredictable and defiant Monuments To Nothing follows its own path, twisting, turning and transforming at will. Highlights include the hard-hitting first single, ‘Basilisk’, featuring a guest vocal appearance from Candlebearer, the momentous instrumental ‘Soul Of A Great Warrior’ and the rich, melody infused riffs of ‘Martyr’ – but in truth every listener will find their own revelatory moments on their journey through this unique album.
