Wednesday 13 // Mid Death Crisis // Album Review

8

Everyone’s favourite ghoulish rocker, Wednesday 13 is back with his new collection of tormenting rocking classics in Mid Death Crisis, which lands this coming Friday courtesy of Napalm Records.

If you are a fan of anything and everything by the Duke of Spook, then you’ll be in for an early Christmas with his new collection of hefty, tasty and blood-curdling tracks. It’s an old-school style fest of gnarly riffs, thick layered vocal harmonies that embed deep inside your brain like the man himself is holding the drill, and pushing it in as far as he can. You’ll get taken on a horrific rollercoaster ride of sleazy 80’s glam metal right through to more 70’s style, grotesque riff-laden metal that has you headbanging in your living room, spewing blood all over your parents as they pray for your soul!

I can only imagine how this collection of tracks will translate to the live stage, it’ll be an absolute rager like something out of a scene from “ I Zombie” but sure the craic will be 90! Tracks like ‘Decease And Desist’ and  ‘No Apologies’ slam into your chest, ripping out your very soul, slam it on the ground and push it back in before they come back for more. There are so many sonic elements to this album, it is a whirlwind of sonic abuse as Wednesday 13 throws everything at you. Production is stellar so you feel every thrash of those guitars deep inside, his ghoulish vocal delivery cuts right through the mix, and when the chorus kicks in, you’ll be pounding the floor like your life depends on it.

This is indeed a gnarly collection of tracks not for the faint-hearted. Mid-Death Crisis will restore the faith of all goths roaming the cities everywhere, hiding in the shade, avoiding the sun, and planning a new world order. This could well be their soundtrack of the summer.

Mid Life Crisis arrives Friday, April 28th, courtesy of Napalm Records. Purchase at your peril.
