RØRY ANNOUNCES NEW EP
FAMILY DRAMA
AND ANNOUNCES HEADLINE UK TOUR
PRE-ORDER THE EP HERE AND GET TICKETS HERE
British alt-pop superstar RØRY announces her upcoming EP, Family Drama, which will be released on 6th October and is available to pre-order now here. RØRY also announces her headline UK tour in February and March 2024. Tickets are available for pre-sale from Tuesday 19th September and general sale from 10am on Friday 22nd September here.
Speaking of the 8 track EP, RØRY explains “There is a proverb that says “the child who is not embraced by the village, will burn it down to feel its warmth”. That sums up this EP. It’s my messy attempt at making sense of a broken home, of addicted adults, of zero accountability, and of always being the one that is blamed.”
The aptly-titled and deeply personal EP features previous singles the apology I’ll never recieve, ALTERNATIVE and hurt myself. The three tracks have picked up a huge amount of support on TikTok, with combined views of 29 million, and 77,000 uses of the songs. RØRY has over 3.4 million views of her previewing the filter she made for ‘the apology…’ and across all her videos, she has over 3 million likes and 315,000 followers on her TikTok.
RØRY continues “I come from a dysfunctional family, where the absolute worst thing you can ever do is tell the truth. Mentioning the long term affair between my father and step-mother led to a breakdown in our relationship. But… their secrets are not my secrets. This EP is me finally giving a voice to the girl who has been silenced and shamed for simply having difficult emotions in the face of affairs. Rage, sadness, regret, grief… these are the words that come to mind when I think of my family of origin. And I know I am not the only one.”
As well as the EP, RØRY has also announced their headline UK tour in February and March 2024. The tour will kick off in Bristol at Thekla on the 26th February then continue around the country hitting Cardiff, Norwich, Nottingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham before wrapping up in Brighton on the 11th March. The tour will see RØRY play London’s Electric Ballroom on the 29th February. Full dates are below and tickets are available to buy here.
Reflecting on the tour, RØRY comments, “Being the “problem child” leads to a sense of real loneliness… It often feels there is no one else that understands what we are going through, and to a deep sense of personal shame. Secrecy and silence are the markers of dysfunctional families. To be able to meet together and scream songs about what we have gone through is incredibly healing! When your own family isn’t a safe place, there is an urgent need to find a community that is. I hope that’s what these shows can be.”
RØRY is taking the alternative scene by storm. Since performing her first UK headline show in 2022, she has amassed a huge following in a short period and has over twenty million streams on Spotify alone. RØRY began her career as a platinum-selling songwriter and has written three UK Official Charts Top 10, amassing over a billion streams for records like Post Malone by Sam Feldt, and OUT OUT by Joel Corry and Charli XCX. After the passing of her mother when she was 22, RØRY struggled with addiction but is now five years sober. Her stage name RØRY is a combination of her first and last name, Roxanne Emery, representing the time she lost to addiction and mental health struggles. In 2021, she was diagnosed with ADHD and created an extremely popular TikTok channel, ADHD Love with her husband. Showing their day to day life with ADHD, the channel has picked up fans from all over the globe and has over 700,000 followers and 26 million likes on TikTok alone. At a stage in her life where she has found acceptance, her resilience has left her passionate to help others and connect with her audience. They self released a book, Dirty Laundry, which went onto be a Sunday Times Bestseller.
