What Lies Below announce signing to Solid State Records with new single ‘Return To Nothing’

Pennsylvania metal outfit What Lies Below have today announced their signing to Solid State Records and shared their towering new single ‘Return To Nothing’.

Heavy, melodic and emotionally charged, ‘Return To Nothing’ marks the band’s first release with Solid State and the start of a new chapter that will continue into 2027, following the release of their last album, I Let It Consume Me.

Vocalist Andrew Watson says: “Return to Nothing is written from the perspective of escaping the dark of ‘I Let It Consume Me’. The lyrics explore the struggle to escape a life weighed down by grief, isolation and the burdens of the past. They follow a journey from darkness and despair toward awakening, with cracks in the darkness revealing glimpses of hope and a way forward.”

The release lands as the band have just wrapped the UK leg of their tour with Acres. They are now out on the European leg, with dates still to come.

Hailing from the Pennsylvania, What Lies Below began as an idea Andrew had in high school and grew into a five piece completed by Mike Watson (vocals/guitar), Sam Hart (guitar) and Jonah Luteman (drums). Andrew’s hard vocals sit against Mike’s cleans, with catchy riffs and intricate melodies that push beyond the boundaries of the metalcore box.

The band joined Theoria Records in 2024 and released the Darker Colors (Deluxe) album before taking to the road as the opening act on a national tour with Asking Alexandria, From Ashes To New and Royale Lynn. They now enter a new chapter with Solid State, with more new music to follow in 2027.
