After a long, busy day, I was finally able to do something I enjoy. That being heading to the o2 Academy in Birmingham for another night of live music and photography. The night’s show was the rescheduled Waterparks headline show with support from Phem and Bad Suns.
Opening the night was Phem, one of the many new wave Indie artists taking the music world by storm. While the crowd took a moment to liven up, it wasn’t long till everyone was dancing along to the incredibly catchy songs filling the air. Playing a set filled with catchy chorus’ and bop-filled verses, Phem played a great set that set a high bar for the rest of the bands to come.

Up next were Bad Suns, the American Indie/rock 4 piece. With ease, Bad Suns offered a great, tight set that showed exactly how strong their songwriting is. Frontman Christo Bowman easily stole the show though with his great stage presence and truly was the highlight of the set. Despite the band’s sound really not being for me, I found myself just enjoying the performance regardless of my personal taste which shows just how good the set was.
OUT NOW
Bad Suns is Christo Bowman (vocals/guitar), Gavin Bennett (bass), Miles Morris (drums) and Ray Libby (guitar).

The final band for the night were Waterparks. Within seconds of the lights dimming, the crowd let out one of the biggest cheers I’ve ever heard before a band even plays a note. It wasn’t long until the band performed one of the tightest, visually impressive shows I’ve seen in years. Awsten Knight especially deserves special mention, it’s rare I’m in awe of just how great a frontman someone is but the energy, love and charisma were radiating from him the entire set. An incredibly tight and catchy set.
After the set ended, I headed for the bus and just took in another night of great live music. There’s truly nothing like it.
