VISHNU’S REST, the dynamic duo of vocalist Don Wade and guitarist Chrys Johnson, are thrilled to announce the release of their debut concept EP, Fours of Nature. Originally launched on Bandcamp on 4th December, the album is now live on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. Fours of Nature is a 14:44-minute exploration of cosmic cycles, symbolism and paradox, drawing inspiration from the myth and lore of Sri Vishnu and Hindu cosmology—filtered through a Western metal lens. The four tracks weave intricate tales of nature’s forces, complemented by a diverse and talented lineup of guest musicians, including Jesse Zuretti (DAATH) on drums and the incredible Devin Townsend on bass, the latter also mixing and mastering the EP. “‘Fours of Nature’ is an apex project for us,” shares Johnson. “We’re not full-time musicians, just two lifelong hobbyists with day jobs who were fortunate enough to bring this vision to life. This project is deeply personal, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support and contributions from some of our musical heroes.” “This is an earthly attempt at honouring the infinite cycles of the cosmos,” adds Wade. “It’s impossible to fully encapsulate such a grand subject in just four songs, but we hope listeners will immerse themselves in its depth. It’s an experience that unfolds more with each listen.” The duo encourages fans to explore the EP with an open mind, even if metal isn’t their usual genre. “We’ve poured our hearts into this project, and it’s full of layers and symbolism that reward repeated listening,” says Johnson. Fans of the Seattle-based band Only Human may recognise Johnson and Wade from their early days in the local music scene. Now, decades later, they’ve reunited under the banner of Vishnu’s Rest to create something extraordinary.
