vide brings a uniquely ambient style of shoegaze-laced blackened metal with “decorated in spiderweb”

(FROM THE SWAMPS OF LOUISIANA & TEXAS // APRIL 4TH, 2025) Heavy outfit vide has unveiled new single, “decorated in spiderweb”, taken from the upcoming EP of the same name, set for release on May 2nd.

Goth rock riffs and a sobering percussive weight adorn the new single. An aura of 90s shoegaze ambience serves as a fitting tonic to the macabre swamp-infested horror of vide’s deliciously blackened metal.

Speaking on the new track, front person Nobody shares: “”decorated in spiderweb” evokes feelings about being stuck, trapped and tangled in the web of life. The push and pull just to invite the spider closer. Sonically, the track was heavily influenced by My Bloody Valentine.”

In support of the EP, vide has announced three mouth-watering shows, including a support with sludge icons Eyehategod.

April 18 – Houston, TX @ Whiteoak Music Hall (w/Eyehategod)

May 3 – Dallas, TX @ Black Cat Records and Comics

May 4 – Houston, TX @ The End

With the release of 2020 debut Hanging By The Bayou Light, vide emerged from the shadows surreptitiously, but with a bold and expansive sound, dipping into a unique palette of heavy devices.

In the three years that followed, two more full-length albums – Death Roll and The Parish – would see the light of day along with Beneath The Unholy, a nightmare-ish 8-track Split EP with Frank Iero’s side project BLOODNUN.

Conveying a dexterous array of influence, spanning shoegaze, dark wave and post-punk, vide’s sonic output takes you on an anguish-laden journey. The tortured ethereality of the tracks is dealt a jarring wake up by the potent punk-edged percussion, bringing resonance that will mesmerize as much as it terrifies.

Having been named in CVLT Nation’s Top 10 Black Metal Albums of The Year on two occasions, fans of the genre are set for yet another captivating offering, with vide’s upcoming collection decorated in spiderweb.

Kicking off the cycle is the creeping death march of the title track. Followers of Joyless and Darkthrone will be drawn in, a striking juxtaposition of haunting, grim basslines with the ambient swirls of melody; the deft coalescence of vide’s latest output will both hook and haunt listeners.
