New York, NY (October 24, 2024) – Underoath’s guitarist Timothy McTague and the band’s creative director Joel J. Cook have announced Band Together Relief, a diverse collection of bands and artists, and the launch of an online pop-up shop offering exclusive merchandise. This initiative aims to raise vital funds for communities in Florida and North Carolina that have been severely impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. | | In response to the widespread destruction and displacement caused by these catastrophic storms, Band Together Relief was created to provide assistance to those in need. The online pop-up shop will offer one-of-a-kind designs from each band and artist, with 100% of the profits going directly to relief efforts in the affected areas. | | Speaking on the project, McTague says “When we saw what the last month has done to our state, and especially our hometown, it was heartbreaking. I have friends who lost everything—some with insurance and some without. It’s tough to find the motivation to act in the face of such devastation, but we must do something. We know we can rebuild neighborhoods and replace schools, but if we can make a difference in anyone’s tragedy, it’s worth all the effort everyone has put into Band Together. There are venues closed, homes damaged, and people displaced. It’s almost impossible to tackle it all, so we are committed to addressing what we can for Florida, our hometown, and Asheville. We have a tour date there later this year, as well as four in St. Pete, which are some of our favorite places to play, and the people are amazing. If we can give back even a little bit, it’s worth it.” | | Their goal is to work with a top-rated charity that has low overhead costs to ensure that funds reach those in need and make a meaningful impact. Band Together Relief is partnering with Current Initiatives Charity to support relief initiatives in Florida and North Carolina. While significant efforts have already been made to help those affected by these storms, there is still much more to be done. | | Music venues, local artists, bands, and the people who work to make live music happen are currently out of work, and many venues are unable to open due to damage. Therefore, they’ve partnered with the NIVF Emergency Relief Fund (ERF) to provide immediate assistance to venues and live music spaces so they can reopen and get people back to work. | | People are still in need of everyday essentials, such as laundry services. The Laundry Project assists lower-income families by meeting this basic need—washing clothes and linens—by turning laundromats into community centers of hope. Laundry fees are covered while volunteers assist with laundry services, entertain children, and create a welcoming atmosphere at the laundromat. | | Jason Sowell, CEO of Current Initiatives’ Laundry Project, emphasized the ongoing need for basic services: “After a hurricane, the recovery process can be long, and families often face significant challenges. Something as simple as having clean clothes can make a big difference in their day-to-day lives. Laundry is an ongoing need that doesn’t go away, even in times of crisis. Our goal is to provide relief and a sense of normalcy to families in Florida and North Carolina as they rebuild and recover.” | | | | Participating Bands and Artists Confirmed So Far: | | | | | – Memphis May Fire – Emery | | | | | The online pop-up shop and merchandise production are powered by MerchDirect.
