HERE.‘Only For You’ is a song that sits apart from Tors’ discography, yet it also encapsulates everything that fans have come to love the band for. Its sound is as naturalistic as can be, with warm, understated instrumentation allowing their famous vocal harmonies – which have generated millions of views on TikTok – to be the main attraction. And while their songs often address relatable but troubled experiences, from break-ups to unfulfilled ambitions, ‘Only For You’ is a pure and direct love song that opens up its emotions for the world to see.
Tors commented, “‘Only For You’ is a rare release for us, we don’t often write love songs for fear of sounding disingenuous or struggling to convey our feelings without becoming saccharine. But this song felt different, it fell out of the sky very quickly and embodied our experiences in an honest and raw way that we hadn’t captured before. Written in between takes in a studio in Woodstock we recorded it that evening and haven’t touched the track since, what you’re hearing is exactly how we played it the very first time.”
‘Only For You’ joins ‘Tell You’, ‘Happy Enough’ and one of their all-time most streamed tracks ‘Miracle’ in building anticipation for the upcoming ‘Miracle’ EP. It will be completed by an additional two songs, all made in collaboration with producer Simone Felice (Noah Kahan, The Lumineers, Jade Bird). It’s a collection that shows that while Tors explore all kinds of moods and sentiments, their bright melodies, soaring harmonies and blissful vibes craft a consistently appealing and uplifting atmosphere. A big step towards an even stronger future? You better believe it.
The band added, “The ‘Miracle’ EP is the truest form of Tors we’ve ever released, a body of work that finally feels and sounds like the band we are in our heads. We recorded it buried in the wild forests and hills of Woodstock, New York with Simone Felice who we had previously only dreamed of working with. He quickly embraced us as his brothers and took us for a ceremonial baptism in the creek that runs alongside the studio. The following days were a whirlwind of noise, laughter and cutting the bullshit till we knew what we were looking for and the mission became clear.
We returned to Woodstock two more times in order to finish what we’d started and got to see the studio in blistering summer, bone-rattling snow and everything in between. Something about the magical environment and Simone’s undeniable mentorship inspired us to record the strongest songs we’ve released to date.”
‘Miracle’ EP marks a bold stride forward from their previous career highlight, 2023’s ‘Anything Can Happen’ EP. The two releases have sparked most of the band’s landmark achievements, including playlists at Radio 1 and Radio 2, as well as shows as guests to big names such as Cian Ducrot, Sam Ryder, Freya Ridings and Tom Walker. They’re also firmly established as go-to collaborators, their writing with artists such as Declan J Donovan, Dean Lewis, Nick Wilson and The Wandering Hearts leading to over 500 million streams to date. All three members of the band have music in the blood: Brothers Matt and Theo Weedon are the grandchildren of Burt Weedon OBE, whose ‘Play In A Day’ tutorial books helped numerous leading guitarists in the ‘60s and ‘70s to take their first steps as musicians, while Jack Bowden’s mother and sister are both music teachers.
