Listen to “God Loves You When You’re Dancing”
“God Loves You When You’re Dancing” is a moment of lightness that closes the forthcoming EP. The song is bursting with a sense of positivity and beauty that sidesteps the feeling of being forced. The song highlights the depth of Tommy’s vocal range, finding his voice hit rich new heights. The song builds into a crescendo incorporating west-African percussion and group vocals, with WÁ effortlessly blending musical communities.
Tommy says, “This is a record I began writing many years ago which only found its meaning and soul after one of my closest friends who is a dancer was involved in a near fatal motorbike accident.
This song became a form of encouragement as she began rehabilitation to get back on her feet to dance again.
They say “dance like no one is watching, ‘cos they really are not,” but I think God is, and he loves when you’re dancing.”
The track is also supported by a video directed by *name + info on the video*, sharing the inspiration behind the video Tommy says “Dance like David Danced! Imagine the joy that sets you free from every inhibition you might have, dancing unashamed, in front of a crowd or no crowd. That was the plan!”
The song follows previous track, “Keep On Keeping On” which received praise from Rolling Stone UK, Wonderland, Clash and more. This year Tommy has already performed at The Great Escape, completed a tour in support of Macy Gray and will be heading to this year’s edition of Latitude. Stay tuned for more news.

Drenched in beauty and meaning, the music of the Nigerian-born, Ghana-based artist recalls the glistening atmospheres of Bon Iver and Michael Kiwanuka but has its roots in the African folk music of the mid-20th century. Presented through pristine hooks and vivid storytelling, it’s music that straddles eras, styles and continents, but has universality at its core. He is a songwriter with an irresistible, honeyed voice and a knack for immediate hooks.
