“Highlights the sounds, energies and stories of his community and culture” – Rolling Stone UK
Today, Ghana-Based, Nigerian born artist Tommy WÁ has released his new EP Somewhere Only We Go via Dirty Hit. The EP is the culmination of a journey that has taken Tommy from working as a documentary filmmaker in Accra to stages across West Africa, The UK and Europe.
WÁ’s reputation has been growing in the UK throughout 2025, with standout performances at The Great Escape, Latitude and two tours in support of Macy Gray and Oscar Jerome.
Somewhere Only We Go is his most triumphant release to date, combining arrangements that draw inspiration from indie, folk and West African influences with narratives inspired by a key moment in West African history(“Operation Guitar Boy”) and a friend healing from a motorcycle crash (“God Loves You When You’re Dancing”).
What unites these themes across the EP is a spirit of resilience that underpins all of WÁ’s music, a determination that is sure to inspire a connected community of fans across the globe. WÁ says:“This EP is intended to help articulate feelings of escapism, curate an intimate sense of relative freedom for potential listeners, and encourage cohesiveness amongst a community of folks with similar or adjacent realities to me. The EP and the video help map out an ever changing destination, ‘somewhere only we go’ to spend time together, to gain clarity, to be vulnerable without distractions and make merry without inhibition. It’s a true testament to community and the abundance that dwells within it.”
The EP was preceded by the release of the tracks “God Loves You When You’re Dancing” and “Keep On Keeping On”. The collection of songs follows his debut EP Roadman & Folks which was reissued earlier this year via Dirty Hit.

Tommy WÁ bio
A whole multitude of worlds exist within the music of Tommy WÁ, one of the most special new voices to have emerged in recent years. Drenched in beauty and meaning, the music of the Nigerian-born, Ghana-based artist recalls the glistening atmospheres of Bon Iver and Michael Kiwanuka but has its roots in the African folk music of the mid-20th century. Presented through pristine hooks and vivid storytelling, it’s music that straddles eras, styles and continents, but has universality at its core. He is a songwriter with an irresistible, honeyed voice and a knack for immediate hooks.
