Thrownness are an atmospheric sludge/post-metal band from Lisbon.
The current lineup features Kévin Guimet (guitar/vocals), Micas (bass/vocals – Reia Cibele, Deathclean.xo), Tiago Rodrigues (guitar – Moloch, ReignOverClouds), and João Fernandes (drums). After several lineup changes, the band have settled into their most cohesive formation yet, one that fully carries forward the original vision conceived by Kévin.
Marrow Part II: A Fire Through The Ether is the band’s second EP, continuing the body of work first introduced on Marrow (2024). This time, the entire lineup contributed to the writing process, bringing greater intensity and a sharper focus to the material. With additional support from André Martins (Skyllar), who handled session drums during 2025, and recording by André Isidro, the three tracks come together as a refined and forward-looking statement.
Thrownness balance monolithic riffing and the slow, often dissonant structures of sludge and doom, drawing from the lineage of bands like Neurosis, with expansive, atmospheric passages rooted in experimental music and post-rock. The result is a series of long, narrative compositions that move through shifting sonic landscapes, often culminating in moments of emotional catharsis.
At its core, the band’s music is driven by a need to create space for loss, a tribute to those who have passed, a confrontation with the forces that weigh us down, and a search for meaning within the chaos of our lives.
Marrow Part II: A Fire Through The Ether will be released via Raging Planet on May 4, with the first single arriving ahead of the release.
