THORNHILL release new single ‘TONGUES’

New album ‘BODIES’ is released April 4th on UNFD

As the countdown to Thornhill’s highly anticipated new album ‘BODIES’ (out April 4 via UNFD) continues, the Australian heavyweights return with their latest single, “TONGUES.” Following the explosive reception of previous single,“Silver Swarm,” the band’s new offering is a turbulent dive into the conflict between desire and resistance, surrender and defiance.

Speaking on the new track, Thornhill share: “‘TONGUES’ explores the tension of being pulled between opposing forces—desire and resistance, surrender and defiance. In many ways, it reflects our own relationship with heavy music, the push and pull between being consumed by it or resisting its grip. The song’s atmosphere feels like an ongoing battle, shifting between aggression and restraint. Lines like ‘turning your tongue in two’ and ‘fingernails down the walls’ heighten this conflict, evoking the struggle to commit or break free.”

With swirling melodies, gut-punching heaviness, and deeply evocative lyricism, “TONGUES” builds on Thornhill’s previous singles from ‘BODIES,’ further cementingit as their most ambitious LP yet. “Silver Swarm” explored the chaotic manipulation and push-pull of toxic relationships, while “nerv.” fused haunting electronics with nu-metal fury, earning the band widespread acclaim, a Spotify cover feature on The Core playlist, and adds to Kickass Metal and All New Metal playlists. Together, the singles have racked up 2.6 million Spotify streams and 420,000 YouTube views.

Eternal purveyors of artful and engaging heavy creations, Thornhill possess a flair for nuanced rock beyond their influences. Via their ARIA Award-nominated 2022 album Heroine, Thornhill solidified a steadfast reputation as one ofthe most innovative and immersive heavy acts in the Australian scene, with Heroine debuting at #3 on the ARIA Albums charts, and at #1 on the Australian Albums charts.

Thornhill have amassed a heaving array of accolades over the years, including triple j’s Feature Album and additions to countless Best Of The Year listings for their 2019 release The Dark Pool .
