October 20, 2023 (New York, NY) – Today, the Brooklyn based rock band The Sees have released their second single, “Voices” off their forthcoming album Conversations With My Future Self set to be released on November 17.

Listen to “Voices” here

Better together, “Voices” speaks to the voice of many. Born out of frontman Jamie DiTringo’s Greenpoint apartment during the first phase of the pandemic, it was the daily commotion of pots and pans outside, a homemade orchestra dedicated to the frontline of essential workers, that instilled DiTringo with a sense of hope.

With the intent of coming together to raise our voices as one, the track is an introspective protest anthem standing against the oppressive systems in place, encouraging listeners to come together to break down barriers. Crunchy guitars make way for massive instrumental breakdowns, proving that our voice will be louder as a collective if we come together to take a stand.

A grittier track than its predecessor, “The Calling,” the uplifting anthem reminds us that even in the midst of chaos, we must hold onto our sense of community and find ways to stay connected while striving for a brighter tomorrow.

“Voices was written one evening in the summer of 2020 sitting on the fire escape of my Greenpoint apartment pondering the state of the world, strumming my acoustic guitar whilst banging a pot and pan applauding our COVID first responders” shares DiTringo. “This evening ritual was one of those positive communal experiences living in New York during the pandemic. The voices of my neighbors shouting and cheering on these inspiring people gave me a sense that there is something beautiful despite the feeling of fear, melancholia and loneliness. I started strumming the guitar, hummed what would become the vocal melody and the idea of a song started to form. I had the ending guitar solo melody on my iPhone from another COVID evening writing session and knew I wanted a song with emotion that supported our right to protest against everything happening at that time. The beginning of “Voices” was born that night.”

The Sees are gearing up for the release of their debut album, Conversations With My Future Self on November 17. Exploring this sense of global reflection, oneness, time travel (in the romantic sense), the nuances of time and the effects it has on us by always slipping away, the record tells its story through a whirlwind of textures, rhythms and styles that push the boundaries of genre and explore fresh perspectives. The adventures on Conversations With My Future Self remind listeners to stay in the present moment while leading towards the belief that hope, love and the future can shine brightly if we view it in a new light.

About The Sees

With debut single “The Calling”, Brooklyn-based four-piece have established themselves as a band who can capture the essence of life and humanity with their songs. Its hypnotic pulse draws you deep into their dark, existential and Lynchian world, and refuses to let go. It’s the perfect introduction to both the band and its debut album Conversations With My Future Self, which sees frontman Jamie DiTringo explore the nuances of time and the effects it has on us by always slipping away. Yet while The Sees—completed by Alex Daly (bass), Tim O’Brien (drums) and Yoni Wilkenfeld (synths/keys)—are aware that it’s impossible to stop time running down, their music is a wonderful reminder to make the most of whatever time we do have, and not be afraid to confront the harsh realities of it running out. Formed during the pandemic, the band have a long history of playing music, both together and separately, and that’s resulted in a truly accomplished sound. Indeed, the album as a whole sounds like a dark night of the soul that takes place over the course of a lifetime. “The Calling” is your doorway into that world. It’s one that’s easy to step through, but once you do, it might not let you back out once you cross the threshold. A bold, brooding and beautiful first step from a band with a long future ahead of them—as long as time allows for it.
