The Picturebooks
O2 Academy Islington – 18 March
O2 Academy3 Birmingham – 20 March
New album Albuquerque out now
Grit-Rock duo The Picturebooks are bringing their 15 years of material to O2 Academy Islington on Tuesday 18 March, and O2 Academy3 Birmingham on Thursday 20 March.
The Picturebooks are made up of Fynn Claus Grabke (vocals and guitar) and Philipp Mirtschink (drums). Since they got together in 2009, they have gained acclaim for a stripped-down, raw sound that fuses elements of blues and garage-rock with a dash of punk vigour. Splitting their time between music, skateboards, and motorcycles, they’ve become more than a band, they have cultivated a rabid and loyal fanbase that gravitates to the band as much for their lifestyle as they do for the music.
With five albums under their belts and relentless touring worldwide with over 400 shows in the last five years alone, the two-piece have truly paid their dues, playing venues of all sizes and sharing stages with some of the biggest names in rock. They’ve collaborated with the likes of The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde, Halestorm’s Illy Hale, Black Stone Cherry, Monster Truck, Neil Fallon of Clutch, Refused, and The Distillers, and have toured with Wolfmother, Highly Suspect, The Pretenders, Volbeat, Clutch, Black Stone Cherry, Blues Pills, Monster Trick, Kadvar, Steve Harris’ British Lion, and more.
With their 5th album Albuquerque out now, they can’t wait to hit the road again.
