Queer-punk legends The Oozes today release their new high-energy single, Ultrasound. Never afraid of dealing with heavy topics, the tracks captivating narrative of mania and a spiralling protagonist, proves just that. Listen here.
The band explain, “Quintessentially The Oozes, the track walks the line between intensely heavy and whimsically camp. A playful performance, it encourages the audience to immerse themselves in the narrators’ ramblings, with raw references to, and inspiration drawn from Tom’s experiences with manic episodes.”
The Oozes are gearing up to play three intimate headline shows, kicking things off at Bristol’s Dareshack on 29th January, then on to Portland Arms in Cambridge on 30th January, and finally Whereelse? in Margate on 1st February. This run of shows is on behalf of Independent Venue Week, which is the UK’s annual 7-day celebration of independent music and arts venues. Tickets are on sale here.
Showing no signs of slowing down, The Oozes are currently finalising their forthcoming EP, which is to be released mid-March.
2023 saw the band release three singles, including DBSAC, which was produced by punk/folk singer-songwriter Frank Turner, and picked as BBC Radio 1’s Future Flavour upon release. The London-based quartet followed this up with single Ready, which looks at the coming out experience of a trans child to unsupportive parents, and more recently, STRAP!, a celebration of desire within the queer community.
The Oozes last year played a SOLD OUT Electric Picnic with Irish icon Jerry Fish as well as making a return to 2000 Trees Festival, with a packed out tent on The Nue Stage.
