London,  The Molotovs today release their third single, aiming for a third UK No. 1 physical single in a row with ‘Rhythm Of Yourself’ (Marshall Records), backed by ‘Johnny Don’t Be Scared’.
The accompanying music video (released today at 5pm GMT) sees the band, brother and sister Mathew and Issey Cartlidge, aged 17 and 19, confronting the “small man” of the song in a film noir production.
The video is a Clash Entertainment Production, directed by Matt Chandler and filmed in The Nightjar in Shoreditch and Rooz Studios.
Against a backdrop of smoky bars and mean streets, the production reflects the lyrics, which tell the story of an encounter with a manipulative music industry figure trying to take advantage of a very young Matt and Issey.
Matt said: “The song is about dancing to your own rhythm, whatever you’re being told by those around you. Groove to the beat of your own drum. Don’t let anyone get in the way of your vision. It’s what we’re all about as a band.”
He said the track was influenced by The Jam, Favourite Worst Nightmare era Arctic Monkeys and Sex Pistols.
Issey said: “We’re so pleased with the video – it transports you to a different time. The concept is great and it looks amazing – I love those outfits.”
