The Mars Volta share “The Iron Rose,” the latest preview of their forthcoming live album, “LUCRO SUCIO; UNFINISHED BUSINESS,” arriving Nov. 20 via InsideOutMusic. Recorded during the band’s 2025 tour, the performance was captured in Royal Oak and Tulsa, bringing another live interpretation of the band’s material to the upcoming release.
The live rendition of “The Iron Rose” offers another look at how The Mars Volta revisits its material onstage, allowing the compositions to take shape through performances captured across the band’s 2025 tour. Selected from recordings made in Royal Oakand Tulsa, the track reflects the live approach behind “LUCRO SUCIO; UNFINISHED BUSINESS,” a collection shaped by the performances fans chose to hear on the final album.
Serving as the fourth preview of their upcoming live album LUCRO SUCIO; UNFINISHED BUSINESS, “The Iron Rose” highlightsThe Mars Volta’s remarkable range, trading explosive progressive chaos for a moment of haunting, intimate beauty. In its live incarnation, the performance transforms into a deeply emotional centerpiece, built upon subdued synth layers, warm keyboard progressions, and subtle, atmospheric percussion that allow Cedric Bixler-Zavala’s raw, vulnerable vocal delivery to shine. Framed by delicate backing harmonies and extended instrumental space, this live rendition captures the band’s soulful side with stunning clarity, offering fans a powerful look into the organic live evolution that defines the record.
Marking The Mars Volta’s first official live album since 2005’s “Scabdates,” the project revisits the material of “Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos del Vacío” through recordings selected with the help of the band’s audience. Through an interactive portal on the group’s website, fans were invited to preview live performances and vote for the versions they wanted included on the album, helping determine the final tracklist.
“Iron Rose” follows the previously released “Cue The Sun / Alba del Orate,” “Reina Tormenta / Enlazan Las Tinieblas” and “Voice In My Knives / Poseedora De Mi Sombra.” Following the conclusion of their North American tour, The Mars Volta will return to Mexico for Tecate Comuna in Puebla on Nov. 28, followed by a headline performance at Pepsi Center WTC in Mexico City on Nov. 29.
