THE K’S
RELEASE NEW SINGLE LIGHTS GO DOWN
DEBUT ALBUM I WONDER IF THE WORLD KNOWS?
OUT TOMORROW
PRE-ORDER HERE
Ahead of tomorrow’s release of their highly anticipated debut album I Wonder If The World Knows?, The K’s reveal new, unheard track Lights Go Down today, out at 4pm. Pre-save HERE and watch the official video for Lights Go Down from 4pm BST HERE.
Their most emotive release from the album yet, Lights Go Down begins with a stripped back piano backing, allowing singer Jamie Boyle’s vocals to soar with his usual unfeigned story-telling. Speaking of the track, Jamie said, “Lights Go Down is my favourite song I’ve ever written. The lyrics allude to the fact that even though we are living our dreams on and off the stage, we will always love returning to the normality of our families and friends in our hometown in between all the madness. Touring and playing live is our favourite thing in the world but there’s no escaping the fact that there is no place like home.”
To accompany the release of Lights Go Down, the band reveal the video will be available to watch from 4pm BST today. Directed by Geoff Owens, the brilliant video was shot in the stunning Grade II listed venue, Parr Hall in Warrington, where the band will be playing the new album in its entirety on 10th April. Capturing the story behind the lyrics, the video combines a stunning performance while seeing the band reminiscing and reflecting over their career so far with previous videos and live performances playing in the background. Watch the official music video from 4pm BST HERE.
The K’s hugely anticipated debut album I Wonder If The World Knows? has already received thousands of pre-orders and will be available on Vinyl, Cassette, CD and all digital platforms tomorrow. Explaining the themes of the album, Jamie said, “I Wonder If The World Knows? is a diary of my life for the last few years. I have always been brutally honest in my lyrics and write true to myself and my feelings. The best way to describe the general lyrical content of the album is that it is a constant battle of trying to work out what scares me more – the fact that we might never reach the goals we’ve always dreamed of or arguably scarier, what might happen if we do!”
The Earlestown based four-piece are supporting Red Rum Club tomorrow at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool before continuing their run of intimate, acoustic shows and signings and their soon to be sold-out UK headline tour in April. The headline tour sees them taking on some of the most sizable venues of their career including Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse and London’s Electric Ballroom. The K’s have also confirmed slots at some of the UK’s biggest festivals this summer including the main stage at Reading and Leeds, Isle of Wight Festival, Camp Bestival, Truck Festival and Kendal Calling, as well as many appearances across some of the largest festivals in Europe. The band were recently nominated for Breakthrough Act Of The Year at the Nordoff & Robbins Northern Music Awards, where they will also be performing at the awards on the 23rd April in Manchester.
With some of their largest shows to date coming up, the band are excited to finally be showcasing the album in the place they appear most comfortable – on stage. Jamie continued, “The diversity in our songs is what we truly believe sets us apart from other bands out there. We can take the roof off a venue with upbeat, energy driven bangers such as ‘No Place Like Home’ and a moment later switch to ‘Lights Go Down’ with vocals and melodies that can hold their own with the best of ballads. We spent years honing our craft and finding exactly the sound we wanted for our first album. We have created everything we wanted to and more with this debut album and we can’t wait for the world to hear it.”
As well as selling out multiple dates over the UK including selling every ticket for their Manchester Academy show in under 24 hours, they have also previously opened the main stages at Isle of Wight and Neighbourhood Festivals, as well as gracing the main stages at Leeds, Reading & Kendal Calling, and tore the roof down at last year’s Tramlines, with hundreds unable to get into the big top to see them play. They’ve supported Liam Gallagher, James and Blondie. Their debut single Sarajevo notched up over 6 million streams.
