After a triumphant performance at the weekend supporting Guns N’ Roses at Hyde Park, The Dust Coda have released their new single ‘Come The Night’. The track is a tribute to the late Taylor Hawkins and is the final instalment ahead of the release of their forthcoming album Loco Paradise this Friday 7th July on Earache Records. Pre-order the album here.
Frontman John Drake comments, “When Taylor Hawkins passed away, a bright light went out, a diamond that was meant to inspire and infect us all with great spirit for many years to come suddenly disappeared. Around the time of his death, every person you would run into on the road (musicians, crew, friends, everyone!) – the first thing they would say with complete sadness was ‘Man! What about Taylor!?…‘ It shook everyone.
“You would find yourself talking to all of these people who didn’t know the man personally, but knew him so well through his playing, his spirit in interviews and his relentless championing of rock music on a global level in a time where rock is supposedly dying…
“This song is a dedication to those people, Taylor’s family, Dave Grohl and everyone in the Foo Fighters camp, and, most importantly, the great man himself. We hope that we have done him proud, wherever he is…”
The new single follows the release of ‘Love Sick’, which comes with a video produced by Andy Morahan who directed the Guns N’ Roses’ epic ‘November Rain’ video, and produced and directed by Josh Trigg, who’s known for his work with The Rolling Stones. Watch the video here. It follows the previous single ‘Fairweather Love’, with its soaring Cornell-esque vocals and pulsing rhythms and the hard-hitting rock’n’roll anthem ‘Road To Hell’.
The new album has been receiving rave reviews to date and is packed with a raw energy and fire that is equally matched to their stellar songwriting across the album’s 11 tracks. The band recorded each song together in one room at one time, capturing The Dust Coda’s power as a live band on record for the first time.
Guitarist Adam Mackie says, “This album really captures the band at the top of its game. We locked ourselves away in the studio together for a week to live and breathe the creation of ‘Loco Paradise’. Just six people constantly feeding off each other 24 hours a day for 7 days to give life to these songs and elevate them to a place beyond our expectations. The result is a 54-minute testimony of pure, organic rock’n’roll music.”
The new album follows the release of 2021’s Mojo Skyline, which landed them a UK Top 30 spot and saw Classic Rock Magazine selecting the band’s brass-infused track ‘Jimmy 2 Times’ as part of their 300th landmark issue’s ‘The Soundtrack Of Our Lifetime’ list, alongside legends such as Slash, AC/DC and Deep Purple.
With songs that will sound at home in a stadium as they would a club, The Dust Coda have captured the pure essence and utter joy of being in a rock’n’roll band with Loco Paradise.
The Dust Coda will also be setting out on a UK headline tour this October, which will culminate with a show at London’s Dingwalls. Tickets are available here.
