L.A. artist and producer The Anix is back with “Just Like You” the third alt-rock track from his upcoming album NIGHTVISION.
Continuing to pull from his 90s roots “Just Like You” folds grunge, alternative rock, and modern rock with elements of electro, and trip-hop into a soulful ballad. Deeply melancholy the single pushes into an emotional roller coaster soundscape painted with heavy electric guitars, synthesizers, steady electronic beats, and an impassioned vocal performance from The Anix with raw and honest lyrics for an overal mournful atmosphere.
“This track is a further exploration of my 90’s roots and core inspiration growing up,” explains The Anix. “Inspired by The Smashing Pumpkins, Bush, Nirvana, Soundgarden, combining elements of trip hop, electronica, and garage-alternative. The song begins as a dark, melancholic electro track, lyrically explaining how we have been “blindly led down the wrong paths in life”, almost taking the viewpoint of a victim, then the song explodes into a battle against the fate we have been drawn to, balancing out the somber verses with a musical antidote. The up and down wave the song goes through is simulating the mental battle we have to survive and succeed in life.”
“Just Like You” is out now from independent multi-genre music label FiXT.
