Technical Melodic Death Metallers Monachopsis Release ‘The Carcass Choir’

MONACHOPSIS – THE CARCASS CHOIR

Image description

Formed in 2015 in Leicester, England Monachopsis combine superb musicianship, enthralling song writing, engaging atmosphere and devastating intensity and aggression to create their own unique brand of melody infused technical death metal. They have developed their skills through live shows with the likes of The Monolith Deathcult, Conjurer, Ingested and many more, always pushing their abilities to the limit and beyond. The first Monachopsis EP – From Mind To Eye – was released in 2018 and hailed by Sonic Abuse webzine for its ‘technically impressive harmonized solos and churning riffs’. Line-up changes and the inevitable setbacks of the global pandemic took their toll on the band’s progress, but by 2023 Monachopsis were back with a second EP, As The Dreamer, which showed dramatic progress. Now, in 2025, Monachopsis are ready to unveil their most impressive and creatively ambitious work to date – the multilayered, richly textured exercise in mind warping dreams of devastation that is The Carcass Choir!

The Carcass Choir opens with its title track, one of two brand new songs to be featured in its tracklisting – massive riffs, an immense vocal presence and shimmering melody lines threading through the darkness. Fascinating in its intricacy, thrilling in its drive and force, ‘The Carcass Choir’ is a perfect opening salvo. A second new song, ‘Letters From The Doomsday Vault’ follows in equally engaging fashion; intriguing, compelling and uncompromisingly heavy, before the band take a look back to their earliest days. A cover of Darkest Hour’s ‘Love As A Weapon’, the first song Monachopsis ever played live, is given an injection of virulent venom and inducted into The Carcass Choir. The remaining two songs are both ever present in the Monachopsis live set list and both originally appeared on the From Mind To Eye EP. Here ‘Scathed By Branches Of Malice’ and the epic ‘The God Project’ are reborn; vicious and brilliant, utterly hypnotic and featuring some of the finest guitar solos on this EP. The Carcass Choir is a revelation and should see Monachopsis recognised as one of the most accomplished and adventurous death metal outfits the UK has to offer.

Mixed and mastered by Nik Palivos at Haunting Studios (Elysian, Rohan, Eonian etc) The Carcass Choir has been blessed with a sharp, incisive clarity of sound that complements its stark power and multifaceted nature, allowing every stunning element of this outstanding release to be fully appreciated. Complete with the impactful artwork of Mohammed Hoirul (Flesh Remains etc) The Carcass Choir will be released on November 21st and the next chapter for Monachopsis is about to begin.
