Sunmancer duel religious scepticism vs morality on skull-crushing “Realms of Dilemma”
Metalcore crew Sunmancer have unleashed a ferocious new track, “Realms of Dilemma”, showing influence ranging from atmospheric hardcore to potent deathcore.
The new single continues the Atlanta outfit’s build towards upcoming EP, Everything Falls Apart, set for release on January 24th, 2025.
Speaking on the new track, vocalist Justin Mazlik shares: “This song is our first that was written completely (musically) by our drummer Pat Snyder, which he leaned into samples and a different style of writing than our previous efforts. This has ultimately given our sound a little more variation since everything before was mainly written by our guitarists Kyle Mazlik and Jeremy Harlan.”
Mazlik continues: “The production of Realms of Dilemma was also handled by Pat, which he handled for our debut EP as well as this forthcoming EP ‘Everything Falls Apart’. The lyrical theme focuses on finding a balance between morality and scepticism within religion.”
Atlanta metalcore crew Sunmancer have refined a sharp and captivating brand of heavy, since the release of their debut EP.
Formed in 2022 by brothers Kyle and Justin Mazlik and guitarist Jeremy Harlan, Sunmancer released their rookie collection in November 2023. Nothing Ever Happens, produced by the band’s now drummer Patrick Snyder, brought the group out of the gates at an impressive pace, their intuitive instrumental cohesion and emotive delivery setting Sunmancer on a bright trajectory.
The band would continue to raise their stock in the southeast with a run of shows and short tours, with notable support slots for August Burns Red and Fuming Mouth soon following.
Sunmancer’s comprehensive lexicon of heavy is clear to see; May’s blistering “Chasm Darkly”, is a rich and riveting sonic offering, with fall output “Lower Cavalier” splaying emotive hardcore with rapturous death metal.
The gnarly growls of Justin Mazlik are a window to the soul of the tenacious southern quintet. New single “Realms of Dilemma” is the group’s last stop before the release of upcoming EP Everything Falls Apart in the new year, and the track is an ominous precursor.
Spinning a a sharp hybrid of heavy and melodic, the newcomers find their footing with dark, atmospheric tones and searing metalcore choruses reminiscent of the mid 2010’s.
