New York, NY (September 17, 2025) – Canadian genre-smashers Sumo Cyco release “Boring” today, while also announcing that lead singer Skye Sweetnam will be a featured panelist at New York Comic Con on October 11 forHow Influencers Drive Music Discovery at the Javits Center. The band’s highly anticipated new album,NEON VOID, arrives October 24.
Far from its title, “Boring” is a rallying cry for anyone who feels trapped by routine. Gang vocals, driving riffs, and Sumo Cyco’s signature mash-up of metal, punk, and pop chaos about breaking free from complacency and living louder.
“This song is about the challenge to keep the adventure going in the face of routine and the predictable,” shares lead singer Skye. “Life can feel like a grind, but we always have the choice to be vibrant and push ourselves outside of our comfort zones.”
Thematically,NEON VOID is Sumo Cyco’s most ambitious and deliberate work yet. Written during a period of deeply personal and global unrest, the album explores the maze of modern life where screens mediate our relationships, time feels weaponized, and survival is often about pushing through the noise to find your center. Each guitar tone was meticulously crafted to crackle with abrasive power yet shimmer with unexpected sheen, melding crushing low ends and searing highs that push the listener into sonic overdrive. Produced by Salvatore Sam Guiana (Silverstein, Neck Deep, The Devil Wears Prada) alongside Drake, and recorded in the band’s converted church studio in Ontario, NEON VOIDis a genre-bending statement combining punk grit, metal fury, and pop sensibility with fearless creative vision.
