About Summer Hoop: Based out of Tampa, FL, Summer Hoop has always had music at the center of her world. From being involved with theatre throughout her childhood to forming her own bands as she reached her teenage years, music has always been a focus point. “I didn’t ever see anything else for my life. My dad started bringing me to concerts when I was a literal child at 4 years old. His deep love for rock and alternative music got me into music. I’m on a mission to make fresh stuff that feels nostalgic of the things that I’ve loved in the past.” Summer Hoop says about her introduction into music.
Hoop is a powerhouse artist that takes immense pride in her songwriting, wrapping her art in a layer of protection.“Becoming a solo artist felt like the natural next step, because it gives me the creative control to fully shape my sound and vision while still bringing the energy of a full live band.” Hoop says about flourishing as a solo artist. “I’ve been performing with the same group of musicians for years, so I get that dynamic, collaborative feel on stage, but at the same time I can stay true to my own taste and represent myself exactly how I want to.”
Drawing inspiration from iconic artists such as Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and PVRIS just to name a few. Hoop uses her songs as a way to express difficult topics. “I’ve never been great at saying the hard things out loud. Whether that’s in friendships, relationships, or even with family.” Hoop continues. “Writing music is the only space where I can be brutally honest without censoring myself. It’s how I process everything I go through, because if I don’t write it down, it just sits in me.”
Now, Hoop is gearing up for the release of her newest, anthematic single “You Vs. Everyone,” out on October 10. The track showcases a driving hook and an explosive atmosphere. “”You Vs. Everyone” came from a really personal place. I had someone close to me who constantly played the victim, like the world was always against them — but at the same time, they could be incredibly narcissistic and never took responsibility for anything.” Hoop says regarding the song’s meaning. “Sonically, it’s one of my heavier tracks — the verses stay pretty chill, but it builds into this big, anthemic release with a chant-driven outro. It’s cathartic, it’s raw, and it really captures that feeling of letting it all out.”
Hoop has hit incredible milestones throughout her career, being featured on Bilmuri’s track, “THE VOID APPROACHETH” along with sharing the stage with notable acts such as Pierce The Veil, Adam Lambert and 21 Pilots. Hoop is ready to step into a new era with “You Vs. Everyone,” due out October 10. “My songs are like a no-filter version of my thoughts — sometimes dark, lots of times funny, but always real.” Hoop says reflecting on her discography, “Human connection, friendship, and love are painful and confusing a lot of the time, but they’re also the best things we get to experience in this life. My music is about holding both truths at once — the chaos and the beauty.”
