‘SO COOL’

New album, ‘GODBREATH’, out today on Virgin Music

Stand Atlantic release their fifth album GODBREATH today via Virgin Music. A record born out of writer’s block, it sees the four-piece embrace their truest selves, stepping out of their comfort zones into uncharted territory while never feeling closer to home.

Across 11 tracks, genuine feeling shines through, from the uncompromising, stream-of-consciousness songwriting of Bonnie Fraser to the band’s symbiotic musicianship, captured in the live tracking of the whole album. Fierce and refreshingly free, it is littered with timely and timeless bangers, strung together by the defiant, melodic blends of pop, alternative and rock that shape their singular sound.

The run up to the album signalled a newfound clarity: the lovestruck Velcro, the unguarded musings on creative freedom of alt pop gem EDGE OF VEGAS and the dedication to chosen families on rock anthem NEXT2U. Shedding any preconceived notions of what the project needed to be, the band drew a line in the sand with explosive single LUCID, its charged up chorus, “wide awake and lucid”, proclaiming a fearlessness to dive head first into their emotions and towards radical self-acceptance.

Today’s new single SO COOL pulls some of the band’s heavier rock inclinations into a thrilling cut that oozes cool. Vocalist and songwriter Bonnie Fraser says, “I wrote ‘So Cool’ with Stevie Knight in Sydney, on an unusually dreary summer day, when we were in the depths of a creative rut. The instrumental version came first and we just knew the vibe was cool, so I wanted to hone in on that and play on the idea of ‘coolness’. In doing that, I thought about those ridiculous moments when you just feel shamelessly cool – it’s a fun song to play in your car with the windows rolled down. To make you feel like you’re in the VIP section of life.”

Elsewhere, Favourite Flavour blends big pop vocals with pulsating rock tones, finger is a heart-pounding return to their roots and d.L.M.A unleashes some of the record’s most honest lyricism. teeth is visceral and emotionally wrought, while euphoria takes over on HeadRush, reinforcing their ‘lovergirl’ era. Finale Gimme A Show is a soaring pop ballad, sentimental, vulnerable and aspirational all at once.

The  band celebrate the release tonight by kicking off their Australian tour. It has  been a busy year on the road, with headline shows across Europe, UK dates  supporting Simple Plan and a spot on  the Vans Warped Tour. They soon return to the US for support slots with Story of the Year and Silverstein
