SOUTH OF HEAVEN OPEN AIR IN GASHOUDER MAASTRICHT
South Of Heaven Open Air aims for a strong line-up (internationally celebrated metal veterans as headliners, plus new talent), a good old metal atmosphere (intimate and authentic; metal fans among themselves), a well-accessible top location, enjoying food and drinks in a Burgundian style, and a relatively low ticket price (€125,- for an Early Bird combi-ticket).
Despite the overcrowded Dutch event calendar, South Of Heaven Open Air is a welcome addition, as this festival focuses mainly on music, atmosphere, and haute cuisine food & drinks, instead of pretentious side issues such as science, politics, literature, interactive art, and abstract theater.
Just a fifteen-minute walk from the center of Maastricht lies the atmospheric area Bosscherveld with the iconic Gashouder as its centrepiece, the last remaining example of the seven gas holders that once stood in Maastricht. This monumental site fits one-to-one in terms of look & feel with a metal festival and is also easily accessible by bike, public transport, and car – also from Germany and Belgium.
