SOUTH ARCADE RELEASE NEW SINGLE
STONE COLD SUMMER
LISTEN HERE
One of the UK’s fastest growing alternative bands, South Arcade are back with a new, energetic single, stone cold summer. Listen to the single HERE.
South Arcade, made up of Harmony Cavelle (vocals), Harry Winks (guitar), Ollie Green (bass) and Cody Jones (drums), wrote the track about putting your time and energy into the things you care about. It explores the idea that you can be happier doing something you truly care about, rather than working for more money doing something that gives you no fulfilment.
Speaking of the track, the band said “Harry showed us a demo with this crazy riff and we thought it was amazing! We’d been struggling with social media for a while but we always write music and put all our energy into the band because it’s what we love. As we were writing ‘stone cold summer’ about keeping optimistic with the band, our videos blew up on TikTok and it felt like an omen. We hope the song helps other people to keep the faith in doing what they love.”
The release of stone cold summer follows on from their upcoming I Was Here First tour selling out. The 3-date run of headline shows will be later this year, starting with a hometown show in Oxford on September 27th, Leeds on September 28th and playing Downstairs @ The Dome in London on 2nd October. The band have also been announced to play Reading & Leeds Festival in August on the BBC Introducing stage.
The sold-out tour was announced last month following the band’s previous single DANGER hitting 1 million streams after the track began blowing up across social media and a huge surge in fans. The track now has over 2 million streams on Spotify alone, doubling in just a couple of weeks.
Speaking of the upcoming tour and DANGER’s success, South Arcade have said, “It was crazy how quickly DANGER has reached so many new people. We didn’t have any headline shows planned for the rest of the year but we knew we had to meet these new fans and what better way than playing some gigs? We can’t wait to welcome the newcomers to the South Arcade world – see you in the Autumn!”
The band have built a strong reputation for their energetic live performances having previously supported the likes of Taylor Acorn, Dead Pony, RØRY and Yours Truly. Heavily inspired by the 2000’s pop rock era, the Oxford-based band have captured the Y2K nostalgia and aesthetic, while combining it with their modern production and they are only just getting started…
