Soccer Mommy, the musical project of beloved Nashville songwriter and musician Sophie Allison, released her staggering new album Evergreen in October to critical acclaim. Earlier this year, she shared a stripped version of album stand-out ‘Driver,’ alongside a gorgeous performance of the song on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Today she reveals that the song is a part of an Evergreen (stripped) EP, out June 6. Pre-order HERE.
Out today alongside the announcement is a brand new song entitled ‘She Is’ (stripped) with visuals by Justin Banh. Allison’s intention for Evergreen was to let the vulnerability of her songwriting shine. The stunning result was a sonic return to Soccer Mommy’s roots — and an homage to her years of performing solo with just her acoustic guitar — but recast on an organic, lush and cinematic scale. On new song “She Is” and the new EP Evergreen (stripped), Allison realizes that intention further, laying bare the songs—raw and relatable, unvarnished and honest. “This song didn’t make the cut for Evergreen but it was always really special to me,” she says of the track. “I think the stripped version does it justice while staying close to the demo.”
Soccer Mommy is in the midst of a global, four-month tour that just wrapped in North America, and continues now in the UK/Europe. Today she also reveals a second leg of the North American tour, which includes a massive show at Central Park SummerStage in NYC this September. Later in the year, she will also tour throughout Australia and Asia. Tickets are on-sale now – see below to find a show near you, and get your tickets HERE.
