Emotionally driven rock trio Sleep Outside have announced their second EP, which follows 2021’s debut ‘This Won’t Ever Last’. ‘Lakes In Which To Drown In’ will be released on 1st November via Best Life Records and the band have released its first single ‘Sick’, along with accompanying music video, today. They say “‘Sick’ actually predates the band and was originally released in early 2020 as a one-track acoustic demo recorded by Adam (Holborn – guitar and vocals) at home. We knew the chorus had way more to give so decided to give it a face lift and re-work some lyrics. Thematically, it picks up exactly where the last track off the debut EP left off and leaves a perfect book end on that period of time with the most obnoxious, triumphant key-change we could have achieved.” ‘Sick’ is perfect evidence of Sleep Outside’s knack for melody, intricate riffing and pulling at the heart strings (with harp strings too!) Through the tracks of the forthcoming EP, Sleep Outside explore the notion of “selling out” (‘Math-Rock Millionaire’), day to day anxieties (‘Spider’), struggling with your identity (‘Lakes In Which To Drown In’ and loss (‘AWEN’, which is the Welsh word for ‘muse’). It’s a personal journey but one which is all too easy to identify with. Sleep Outside’s debut EP ‘This Won’t Ever Last’ saw them gain plaudits from the likes of Rock Sound who hailed their music “beautiful emo rock” and Gigwise who praised their “all racing-heart-guitar and cymbals, pop-punk-vibe vocals and emo lyrical matter.” This is a band that will easily capture the imaginations and hearts of fans of emo staples like Mineral, Braid, The Get Up Kids, and Jimmy Eat World. Get ready to get emotional with Sleep Outside on the road this winter as they’ve announced 12 dates across the UK in November/December, as well as a couple of shows this month.
