Picking up where the acclaimed ‘Shanty Punk’ left off, their seventh studio album, ‘Songs From The Yonder’, will find the band revelling in their nostalgic touchstones, while facing the future with a wide eyed sense of optimism and a warming reverence for what has been. With plenty of harks back to their folk roots and some more tender touches too, longstanding fans will be enamoured to hear that those classic Skinny themes of drinking, travelling, the sea and ploughing on in the face of adversity, are still hoisted high on the band’s flagpole throughout this latest outing. The album features previously released title-track “Song From The Yonder”, the sea-worthy “Yorkshire Belle”, the fervent “Plough On”, and swaggering drinking song “Set Us Straight”. Teeming with themes of seafaring, travelling, drinking, family, and good times, ‘Songs From The Yonder’ is the seventh release from the good ship Skinny Lister and slots seamlessly into their canon. Alongside the signed CD, digital and vinyl releases, the band also recently announced that five extra CD formats of the album are now available to buy from the band’s official site. Each CD features bespoke artwork in the style of an old seaside postcard – illustrated by John Davison, (Cartoons From The Pit) – and a different bonus acoustic track included on each of them.
