Following its First Play on triple j’s Drive with Abby & Tyrone last night, Skegss return with new single ‘State of Hawaii’, the second single from their upcoming EP, Top Heavy which is out 27th June 2025 via Loma Vista Recordings. Marking a fresh sonic departure, the track blends breezy bossa nova rhythms with lush background vocals and vibrant trumpet lines. “State of Hawaii” follows recent track ‘So Excited’ and is a laid-back tribute to the islands, capturing both the literal paradise and the dream of escape from everyday stress. Alongside the release comes a video directed and produced by Kale Neville, shot while on tour. Lead singer Benny Reed says on the track, “We had a bit of fun with this song in the studio where we tried a few different versions and then thought it would be fun to go a little Latin or Cuban, a bit of a mix of things.
