About Scarlet View: Based out of Kansas City, heavy Alternative Rock outfit, Scarlet View “is a phenomenon I first described from the view of my secret hiding spot on the Missouri River as a teenager,” says lead vocalist Bryce Loewenstein, about how the band name came to be.
“I found a secluded, small river-sand beach within a cove, that washed out during a flood a few years prior. It was my secret spot I would visit to write music, think, and breathe. The sun set perfectly on the misty river bend, reflecting over the water in its reddish-pink-orange hue.”
Based on the awe-inspiring reflection on the water on rare nights, Loewenstein coined the name Scarlet View creating a cinematic feel for what was to come from the band. Scarlet View writes songs that spawn from a moment’s emotions.
“It could be a song about a good old rockin’ rollin’ time like Snake Dance, overcoming life’s hurdles NEVER COMIN DOWN or chasing something we care deeply for The Chase,” Loewenstein says, regarding the creative writing process of Scarlet View’s music.
Taking influences from artists such as Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Van Halen, the band is gearing up to release their double hitter EP, Sunrise, on June 3rd, and includes two rock-driven singles, On My Way and My Fight. Each track tells a contrasting story; On My Way reflects on the effect that Covid had while being on the road.
“On My Way is an upbeat jam written in the midst of uncertainty, but how it came to be was totally by accident. When Covid hit, we were on tour,” says Loewenstein about the upcoming track. “The night before an incredibly important, possibly career-trajectory-changing event, we played a fantastically fun show in Louisiana. The moment we got off stage, our manager texted us saying the city of Austin shut down due to the pandemic. We cancelled the rest of our tour.”
“The band camped out in Texas, hoping to find some direction, explanation, or understanding of our next steps. We later spent some time in Houston with our producer, Richie, with the intention of writing a song from scratch to capstone the moment. On My Way is a homage to stay grinding, stay pursuing, stay up and know that better things are around the corner. Always. So lost, straight up what I feel like. But I am on my way.”
With Sunrise featuring a second song, My Fight, the track takes a dynamically different coming from a darker origin.
“In the lyrics; folded pages, folded corners in the middle of an empty magazine, the empty magazine is a theme set throughout the song to describe my mind at the time of emotional emptiness and numbness,” says Loewenstein about the upcoming single.
Scarlet View shows no sign of slowing down, having shared the stage with artists such as FLAW, The Bunny The Bear, In Flames, From Ashes To New, The Browning, AVATAR, Dropout Kings and more. The band has recently been featured on NO COVER and has worked with with Executive Producer & Engineer – Richie Wicander (Drummer of Fire From The Gods, BMG,) Co-Producer- AJ Channer (Fire From The Gods, CHNNR) and Mastering Engineer- Kris Crummett- the band showcases a whole new world of hard-rock talent.
“Music can be about many things- expression, consolation, motivation, and a myriad of other topics,” says Loewenstein regarding the takeaway of Scarlet View’s music. “If any listener can feel just one small moment of emotion from any of our tracks, that makes every second of our musical journey worth it.”
