About Saving Vice: Hailing from Vermont, independent metalcore outfit Saving Vice tackle intense topics such as addiction, loss and heartbreak. “The trauma of being beaten down over and over, but always getting back up has really pushed our music to the edge of madness,” says lead vocalist, Tyler Small. Since the band’s conception in 2017, Saving Vice quickly gained organic notoriety in the New England metal scene as a DIY band. “Most of us either mentor, teach or produce music,” Small continued on the members’ ventures outside of the band. “You learn so much from that kind of career. We are constantly absorbing and learning and we never run out of inspiration or ideas.”
Good Days, Dead Eyes, the band’s most recent record that was released back in May of 2024, is a powerhouse of ruthless melodies, paired with the brutality of distinct screams. The record was even more impressively produced, mixed and mastered in-house by guitarist and founder Robbie Litchfield.
Saving Vice modernizes ‘09 metalcore blended with the contemporary genre trend. Small’s lyrical capability is highlighted throughout the new album. “The main difference is this is the first album where I wrote everything and I really got to do whatever I wanted without having to work around another vocalist,” explains Small, referring to the band’s prior two-frontman setup. “It let me cut loose and do a lot of things vocally and lyrically I couldn’t or wasn’t doing before. Thematically it’s the end of the saga. We had singles, but Colder Than Dark, Hello There and Good Days, Dead Eyes are all directly connected. If you listen to them together, it’s a story of misery, self-discovery, and then healing and becoming stronger for it in a way.”
Saving Vice brings their songs to life in a way that’s unmatched with their high-energy live performances. The band has branched out on a national level with two full US headliners and played in support of artists such as Dropout Kings, The Plot In You and were featured on iMatter Fest ‘18 and‘19 among acts such as Underoath, August Burns Red, Beartooth, Fit For A King and Wage War.
The band shows no signs of slowing down as they make their way through 2024, with their upcoming tour with Fight From Within coming later this fall.
