Acclaimed Swedish artist Sarah Klang announces her new album, Beautiful Woman, will be released February 7, 2025. Produced by Eric D. Johnson (Fruit Bats, Bonny Light Horseman), the songs on Beautiful Woman are an expansive exploration through womanhood in all of its complicated beauty. Klang has also announced a 2025 Beautiful Woman headline tour across Europe/UK, starting February 26th in Stockholm, SE at Fållan through May 2 in Berlin, DE at Lido and includes Metronome in London on 29th AprilPre-save Beautiful Woman HERE

With this news, Sarah shares her bittersweet single “Other Girls,” a nostalgic trip back to the early aughts – a time when pop culture’s obsession with women’s bodies was at its peak just as a young Klang was entering puberty. “Nothing tastes as good as feeling skinny, I was told when I was young,” she sings at the song’s opening, referencing Kate Moss’ controversial quote from the nineties. On a lighter note, Klang recalls, “I was watching Crossroads with Britney Spears a lot. I think that film was meant to scare young girls into not doing things, but it actually had the opposite effect, and we all wanted to go out and have adventures after watching that,” she laughs. Listen to “Other Girls” HERE

For the song’s cinematic video, Klang wanted to capture the feeling of alienation, vulnerability, and heightened emotions that come with growing up, while also showcasing the deep friendships between young girls. Klang says, “It’s a spiced up version of a terrible gym class, you could say.” Watch it HERE.

Throughout her career, Klang has been a DIY artist, recording at home in Sweden. Beautiful Woman marks a bold change in direction for the musician who went out to L.A. for the first time to record the album with the Grammy-nominated, multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and producer Eric D. Johnson. The experience also saw Klang switch, for the first time, to a live recording style in the studio with an extraordinary team musicians curated and handpicked for their roles including; Josh Adams on drums (Cat Power, Beck, Wild Nothing)Josh Mease on bass (The Weeknd, Fruit Bats), and live room mixing by Jarvis Taveniere (Avalanches, Whitney, King Gizzard). The album is mastered by Heba Kabry, the studio mastermind behind seminal recordings by the likes Big Thief, Bjork, Future Islands, Mdou Moctar, Cat Le Bon, Animal Collective and more.

Klang has always had a talent for autobiographical songwriting, like on her acclaimed debut Love in The Milky Way(2018), which won Best Album at the Swedish Grammis awards. It continued on Creamy Blue (2019), her second album that earned another nomination for ‘Best Album’ and ‘Best Alternative Pop’ at the Grammis awards, and another nod for ‘European Album Of The Year’ at the IMPALA Awards.  While her sound had previously touched upon a mix of influences (‘60 and ‘70s pop, Americana, an undercurrent of country), 2021’s acclaimed album VIRGO broadened her scope to include elements of ‘80s synth-pop (again winning a Grammis for Best Alternative Pop). In 2023, Sarah signed to Nettwerk Music Group and released Mercedes, an album inspired by her experience becoming a first time mother to her daughter, for whom the album is named. It earned Sarah yet another Grammis nomination for Best Pop Album of the Year, and received praise from Under The Radar, Wonderland, The Line of Best Fit, The Sunday Times, Atwood, Noctis, The LUNA Collective and more.  If Mercedes was a meditation on motherhood, Beautiful Woman introduces a more expansive theme as Klang digs deep into her own life to unpack the very essence of what it means to be a woman today.
