UK HEADLINE TOUR STARTS NEXT WEEK
WITH JAMIE LAWSON AS SPECIAL GUEST Acclaimed musician and actor Sam Palladio has released his debut album The Perfect Summer’s Day, Before We Lost The Light today (September 13th). The album speaks to the trans-Atlantic star’s lifelong experience in and around music, his deep immersion in Nashville and heartland Americana, while also retaining his obsessive fandom for rock and guitar music. It also addresses very personal and life changing moments, prompting a diverse record of moving emotions, textures and sounds. To mark the album release Sam has unveiled the video for his brand new single ‘Tears In The Carpark’. It is an 80s influenced, guitar-driven pop track written about reflective moments of personal solace and mental healing. Regarding the single Sam says, “‘Tears in the Carpark’ is a song about finding a safe place to feel all our feelings. For me, sitting in the car and having a good cry is pretty universally relatable, whether it’s having a breakup on the phone, or taking some time to mourn the loss of a friend or family member, the car park is a space where I feel a lot of us have dealt with these challenges. Sitting in my car has always been a sanctuary to take that private time I need. I wanted to contrast the sad boy pop vibes, with a driving drum and bass, and let people dance through the sadness and let it all go. I also wanted to tip my hat to some of my favourite 80s pop influences like Phil Collins and Genesis and add a little Springsteen sax for good measure.” The Perfect Summer’s Day, Before We Lost The Light was born in Nashville, with some judicious nods back to the UK and finished in Los Angeles in the iconic “Prince Room” of the legendary Sunset Sound studios with Grammy-winning producer Dave Sardy (Noel Gallagher, Band Of Horses, Royal Blood). The title of the record is a lyric taken from the single ‘Something On My Mind’, an achingly touching pop ballad inspired by the passing of Sam’s mother Sally and at its heart the record is a tribute to her. Sam is also joined by collaborators on the record including Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil on the laid-back anthem ‘Spill Your Heart’, while Foo Fighters’ Chris Shiflett lays down scorching riffs and soloing on the rollicking barroom anthem and recent single ‘Tennessee’. His impressive parings continue into his live shows too. Chris Shiflett joined Sam onstage at the 100 Club this summer, while now on his forthcoming Before We Lost The Light headline tour, which starts on Sunday September 22nd, he will be joined for all dates by special guest and fellow Cornish star Jamie Lawson.
