21 year-old singer-songwriter Sam Olyott today shares his debut single ‘Cold Toast’. The song represents an impactful introduction from the Liverpool artist, who is preparing to share much more music throughout the course of 2022. Listen HERE. Watch the lyric video HERE.‘Cold Toast’ showcases a soulful singer-songwriter with all the talents required to establish a status as one to watch. While‘Cold Toast’ is undoubtedly a break-up song, Sam has crafted it in a way which uses the small details of how his life has changed as a more personal representation of those overwhelming emotions. The production perfectly suits his confessional style too, deploying little more than the warmth of live guitar, bass and percussion. Sam wrote ‘Cold Toast’ with Mark Vallance and Teddy Gristle who also produced the track. Sam launches the single with a live acoustic performance of the track filmed in Liverpool. Watch HERE. Sam says, “I really enjoyed writing Cold Toast. I think it’s one of the best songs I’ve written so I hope you like it” Sam first started busking in Liverpool city centre when he was just 14-years-old. He would head into town with his dad to claim the best busking spot at 6am and would wait around outside until 10am when shoppers finally started to flood into the area. 6 years on, you’ll still often find him on Church Street, giving impromptu performances to impressed passers-by. You might find him playing his own takes on recent hits alongside classic standards such as ‘Somewhere over the rainbow’ or ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. His rendition of the latter became so well known locally that he was invited to perform as part of Liverpool FC’s community Christmas event inside the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand at Anfield. Realising his growing popularity, Sam took to social media to put his local performances on a worldwide stage. The reaction was just as big, as he amassed 1.2 million views on YouTube. All along, his goal was to write and release his own original music – and that’s a dream he is starting to realise with ‘Cold Toast’. His first ever promo photo also nods to his upbringing inLiverpool, with Sam pictured leaning on the famous gatepost at Strawberry Field. |
