RYAN WOODS SHARES LYRIC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE “GUN IN THE GLOVEBOX” — WATCH
L.A. SHOW SET FOR JULY 30 AT THE ECHO
Singer/songwriter Ryan Woods once again lays his emotional cards face up on the table with his new single “Gun in the Glovebox.”
Listen to the song and watch the lyric video here.
With gloriously saccharine melodies, a sprinkling of bubblegum beats, and diary-honest lyrics, delivered in Woods’ lazily confident croon, “Gun in the Glovebox” is a pretty pop song with a deliciously dark and devilish side.
“‘Gun in the Glovebox’ is a song about boundaries, insecurity, and the fear of being truly seen,” Woods explains, holding absolutely nothing back. “I wrote it after a relationship with someone whose life felt completely untouched by struggle — her father owned hotels in New York City, and she had the freedom to explore herself without the weight I was carrying. It made me feel small, like I came from another world. As she got closer, I started to retreat — not because I didn’t care, but because I was scared of what she might uncover.”
He finishes, “The ‘gun in the glovebox’ became a metaphor for the parts of myself I usually keep hidden — trauma, past mistakes, the stuff that isn’t shiny or easy to explain. To me, it felt like a murder weapon: Once someone finds it, there’s no going back, and they might never look at you the same again. This song is about that moment — when love gets too close to the truth, and you’re left wondering if someone can still want you once they’ve seen everything.”
It’s a self-aware and heart-probing song that fans will surely relate to.
