RULED BY RAPTORS
UK PROGRESSIVE ALT-ROCKERS RETURN WITH AN EXPLOSIVE NEW VIDEO & MORE!
RULED BY RAPTORS are braced to reveal their engulfing brand-new EP, Silent Sound, on Friday 15th July. The rousing alternative crew have also just released a brand new single and video, Waves – https://youtu.be/JvNO2Ad2BTE .
Newcastle quartet, RULED BY RAPTORS, surfaced fully-formed in 2018, playing a refreshing and achingly sincere brand of post-hardcore that adeptly balances grit and heft with powerful melodic chops, framed with proggy sensibility. Consisting of Chris Bradley (Vocals/Guitars), Matthew Dewar (Guitars/Vocals), Nick Oliver (Bass), and Will Robson (Drums), RULED BY RAPTORS wasted no time in unleashing their debut EP, Ourobouros, which landed in 2019, and was self-produced and mastered by esteemed producer, Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me the Horizon, Motorhead and Funeral for a Friend). Ourobourous was an ideal showcase piece and deftly extracted influence from such luminaries as Biffy Clyro, Deftones, and At The Drive-in. The EP galvanised the support of the UK underground with many citing the record’s guile, as well as its diversity and ability to be almost simultaneously heavy and appealingly melodic. The release was backed with a full tour schedule, that included a run of dates with MC Lars, Mega Ran, and Koo Koo Kanga Roo.
When the world halted during the Covid pandemic, the foursome regrouped and commenced work on their next release with Romesh Dodangoda. RULED BY RAPTORS arose from Dodangoda’s Longwave Studio in Cardiff armed with their four-track sophomore EP, Silent Sound, and it’s a record that begs to be witnessed. Heavier and even more contagious than their previous record, Silent Sound is a formidable statement and one that perfectly illustrates RULED BY RAPTORS’ true talent. Vocalist and guitarist, Chris Bradley, remarks about the EP: “You can only write about what you know. I usually write quite literally, but this time I wanted to use more descriptive writing and metaphor, as I felt it more suited the content of the songs. The name Silent Sound is something we all felt was fairly apt for both the mental health and the political aspects of the EP and derives from the lyrics of Oxy’s Moron.”
The band will extensively tour the EP over the coming months, starting with a run of shows as support to MC Lars:
26th May- The Bodega; 27th May- Rough Trade, Bristol; 28th May- New Cross Inn, London; 29th May- The Joiners, Southampton; 30th May- Satan’s Hollow, Manchester; 31st May- King Tuts Wah Wah, Glasgow; 2nd June- Riverside, Newcastle.
‘Silent Sound’ EP track listing: 1) Waves, 2) Dance Of Wolves, 3) Cleftones, 4) Oxy’s Moron.
