Ross Harding Releases Dark Blues Reworking Of “Seven Nation Army”
South African guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Ross Harding has released the track prior to his 2026 ‘Blues Shadows’ tour continuing across the UK.
London— Friday 11th September 2026 — Today UK-based Dark Blues artist Ross Harding Releases Dark Blues Reworking Of “Seven Nation Army”.
South African-born, UK-based artist Ross Harding released his new single, “Seven Nation Army (Dark Blues Version)”, on 28 August 2026 — a darker, more melancholic reimagining of The White Stripes’ early-2000s classic.
Harding was nine or ten when he first heard the song and was immediately struck by its instantly recognisable kick and guitar hook — a riff so powerful it almost functions as a chorus in its own right.
Like much blues-influenced music, however, Harding always heard something more melancholic beneath the surface. His version brings that lamenting quality forward, exploring the song from a darker and more soulful perspective while retaining the hypnotic power of the original.
The track was self-produced by Ross Harding, with mastering by Lorne McGregor, and continues Harding’s developing Dark Blues sound — rooted in blues while drawing heavily from rock and darker, atmospheric production.
An accompanying DIY music video captures elements of the actual recording process alongside moody textures and visual overlays, reflecting the raw, self-produced nature of the release.
Ross Harding is currently performing extensively around the UK. All current dates are listed below.

“The thing which sets Ross Harding apart from his contemporaries, is the primal and primitive feel of his songs, his voice and his playing.” – Taken from Album Review by Andy Sharrocks of Get Ready To Rock
“‘Me & Lucifer,’ with its train track rhythm and heavy acoustic boogie, is a great example of Ross Harding’s ability to take a more traditional blues style and give it a darker, modern edge.” – Taken from an album review by Ross Muir of Fabrications HQ
No Ross Harding live show is alike, with his musical skills and versatility being showcased in three unique formats: Solo Acoustic Performance, Blues Shadows Band and Dark Blues Revival Band. Much like John Mayer’s 2008 release ‘Where The Light Is: Live In Los Angeles’, this approach allows people to fully experience Ross Harding’s songwriting, guitar talents, and captivating stage presence.
Solo Acoustic Performance –
Looper-based, atmospheric cinematic. A stripped, immersive set where guitar, voice and texture build a full sound in real time.
- For fans of acoustic music, blues rock, and artists like Chris Cornell, Glenn Hughes & Myles Kennedy
Blues Shadows Band –
Hybrid acoustic/electric, cinematic and controlled. A dynamic, stripped-back sound that leans into space, mood and tension while retaining depth and impact.
- For fans of “MTV’s Unplugged,” Nirvana, Alice In Chains, acoustic music, blues & blues rock, and artists like Chris Cornell, Glenn Hughes / Black Country Communion & Myles Kennedy
Ross Harding And The Dark Blues Revival Band (Electric Band) –
Electric trio, heavier, high-energy. A modern, hard-edged take on the blues with driving grooves, powerful vocals and a raw, amplified feel.
- For fans of high energy rock & roll, blues rock, and artists like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Joe Bonamassa, Glenn Hughes/Black Country Communion, Slash and Myles Kennedy.
Influenced by classic blues and modern interpretations, Ross Harding’s “Dark Blues” blends tradition with a cinematic, contemporary edge.

A prolific performing artist, his versatile stage performances range from a deeply soulful solo acoustic artist to a high energy blues rocker, whose experience is that of an artist much older than he. A seasoned touring musician, he has played hundreds of shows in clubs, festivals, and notable venues in his decade-long professional career. Ross Harding continues to push boundaries in his redefining approach to the blues rock genre.
“…a remarkable dark and moving depth…an experience that starts with his cracked, soulful and incredibly emotive voice which has a surprising turn of range to it…With a crisp and clear production, the subtleties of guitar and vocals are beautifully balanced…sometimes you just need to go back to your musical roots, and it’s rather fantastic that it’s taken a gentleman half my age to remind me of that fact.”
