Norwegian post black-metal trio ROSA FAENSKAP return with their most black-metal-infused statement yet, revealing “Bygg til himmelen” (“Build to the Heavens”), which premiered at Invisible Oranges. The track is the second single from the band’s upcoming sophomore album Ingenting forblir (“Nothing Endures”), set for release on March 6, 2026 via Fysisk Format. Pre-orders are now available at this location.

Invisible Oranges praises the new single, writing: “‘Bygg til himmelen’ tones down the prog to focus on repetitive tremolo riffs. So, on the surface, it’s the most ‘black metal’ Rosa Faenskap have ever been, though it doesn’t end there. It communicates themes of rebelling against the structures we live in, operating with venom against those with power, and general spite towards the ways things are… Rosa Faenskap go a step further ideologically, not ending at the downfall of the system but wishing to build strength around a better world.”

Listen to “Bygg til himmelen” at Invisible Oranges.

With “Bygg til himmelen,” Rosa Faenskap lean fully into hypnotic black-metal tremolo patterns and bleak, decaying soundscapes. Long, icy melodic lines stretch across the song like winter horizons, wrapped in menacing yet strangely beautiful chords. Lyrically, it takes aim at the destructive hubris of systems built on greed and power and imagines something stronger that could rise from the ashes.

The band had this to say about the new single: “The song explores the immensely destructive power of capitalism and colonialism, where those at the top blindly build toward the heavens with no regard for the hell they create beneath them. All that is beautiful and meaningful in nature and humanity is cast aside in the name of progress. Young people who wish to create change are mocked and infantilized: “Sleep now, dear child. The time for action is over.””

With their roots in the autonomous culture house Blitz, the same 80s breeding ground that produced legendary bands like So Much Hate and Kafka Process — ROSA FAENSKAP carry the fight against prejudice and repression into a new millennium. Building on a foundation of political hardcore, the band fold in elements of black metal, post-rock, prog, and shoegaze, mixing the ugliest and the prettiest that music has to offer into a cauldron that tastes both sweet and horrifying. To the best of their ability, ROSA FAENSKAP intend to drive black metal purists completely insane.

ROSA FAENSKAP’s origin story is as chaotic as their sound. The band was born on a drunken night in 2021, when guitarist Emil and bassist Håvard found drummer Anders passed out in a garbage can, knocked out cold, but perfectly balancing a hot dog in each hand.

“Right there we knew we’d found the perfect guy to handle the sticks,” Emil and Håvard recall.

Line-Up:
Håvard Solli: Bass/Vocals
Emil Vestre: Guitar/Backing Vocals
Anders Jansvik: Drums
