Over the course of a career spanning 30 years, Scarlet Page has earned a reputation as one of the world’s leading music photographers working with countless musicians, artists, celebrities, record labels and has seen her work grace the pages of Classic Rock, Kerrang!, Mojo, Rolling Stone, NME, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, The Times, Observer, The Independent, Uncut and many more publications. Now Scarlet Page celebrates her career to date by launching the new ‘30’exhibition. Presented by Behind The Gallery at 139 Whitfield Street, London, W1T 5EN, the exhibition opens with a private/media preview on September 11th, followed by a public viewing (entrance is free) which runs September 12th-15th. There will also be a Q&A with Scarlet at 12.30pm on September 14th (details here). A special series of limited prints, printed on Hahnemühle metallic paper, will be available to buy at the gallery and online here from 9am on September 12th.

Scarlet went deep into her vast photographic archives for the exhibition, selecting thirty of her most iconic and personal images – most of which have never previously been published or seen before. The collection spans everything from the Foo Fighters to more intimate portraits (including Amy Winehouse and Lemmy) through to energising live photography (notably the David Bowie and Keith Flint of The Prodigy) and candid reportage shots (Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance and Robbie Williams). It also highlights some of her contributions to hugely successful album artworks, such as her photo of The Verve that featured in ‘A Northern Soul’ and the full unfolded cover shot from Stereophonics’ ‘Performance and Cocktails’.

Scarlet Page says, “30 years as a photographer in the music industry is something I am incredibly proud of. Finding old forgotten images from shoots done long ago has been a joy, it’s like finding treasures from a different time. I am marking this anniversary by selecting my favourite 30 images and printing them as limited editions on fine art Hahnemuhle metallic paper. These are strictly limited to 10.”

Behind The Gallery’s Creative Director Stephen Dallimore adds, “We are thrilled to announce our upcoming project in celebration of one of our generation’s finest photographers, Scarlet, as we mark her incredible 30th anniversary. This special collection will showcase some of Scarlet’s most iconic live, behind-the-scenes, album, and portrait shots, creating a unique experience for fans and collectors alike. We are truly honoured to be a part of this milestone celebration and cannot wait to share this unforgettable collaboration with the world.”

After studying photography at the University of Westminster, Scarlet Page’s first adventure into music was travelling on the 1994 Lollapalooza tour with the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins and Beastie Boys before her photo in The Verve’s ‘A Northern Soul’ album artwork really propelled her career. From that moment onwards she has always been in high demand, combining editorial work, photography for artwork, press and marketing campaigns as well as book covers and collectible art prints. Scarlet also has a close relationship with Glastonbury festival having first shot there in 1995 and has captured many incredible live images over the years.

Highlights have included providing the photography for Robbie Williams’ #1 bestselling biography ‘Someone Someday’, holding a major exhibition at the Royal Albert Hall with her ‘Your Child’ collection, winning The British Journal of Photography’s Portrait of Britain award, and becoming a brand ambassador for Nikon in 2022.

Scarlet’s influence extends beyond the world of music photography. Her recent projects have included Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place festival/podcast brand, The Henley Literary Festival, and the clothing brand Scamp & Dude. She has also worked extensively for charities such as CALM, PDSA, Teenage Cancer Trust and Warchild.

‘30’ will be presented by Behind The Gallery, an innovative online gallery that is revolutionising the way art exhibitions are experienced. With a focus on fine art music photography and popular culture, the gallery curates unique pop-up gallery experiences that introduce audiences to new and exciting photographers and artists. Their exhibitions to date have included collabs with Jonathan Rach & Nine Inch Nails for ‘The Downward Spiral 30th Anniversary, Cody Smyth’s images of The Strokes, Charles Moriarty’s Amy Winehouse collection and Dave Brown’s ‘Mighty Boosh’ behind-the-scenes showcase ‘Behind The Boosh’.
