Really Good Time share new single “The Love Song” and share details of UK and EU and Irish tours

Today, Dublin trio Really Good Time share their new single “The Love Song” and confirm a run of Irish instore dates alongside full UK and EU tours, ahead of their debut album Affirmations, due out 7th August.

Kicking off with an air raid siren and a relentless, swaggering three-note riff, ‘The Love Song’ is a distinctly RGT take on romance from the first. Named and written in absolute sincerity, the song marks the first sung by bass player Jacque Le Coque, in a performance that captures the manic energy of new love that will be achingly familiar to so many of you. In a world that keeps straining to pull the lever marked “DYSTOPIA” a little harder, there is an urgency to ‘The Love Song’; there is an urgency to keeping the people you love in focus despite the litany of horrors the world churns up each day. You may do that with tender words, locked in together on a strawberry moon. You may do that strutting maniacally, proclaiming your own “con-fi-dawnce”. LOVE; the mission remains the same.”

The band added: “Hello, this is Really Good Time speaking. This is our love song titled ‘The Love Song’. A song that says: ‘the world is falling apart in increasingly confusing and horrible ways, but your love fills me the confidence to face it.'”

Speaking on taking the mic for the first time, bassist Jacque le Coque said: “This is a song about Love, motha fuckka. J Le Coque x”

This year’s run has seen Really Good Time play two packed-out sets at The Great Escape, building the kind of attention that’s carried them onto stages alongside Gurriers, with further dates now booked supporting Baxter Dury and Super Furry Animals. Their last single, “Do It,” has also been used daily on RTÉ’s World Cup coverage. With Affirmations now weeks away, this run of instores and full UK and EU dates marks the band’s biggest and furthest-reaching stretch of touring to date.
