No, this is not a cruel post-Halloween prank gone wrong. Your favourite comedy band RAISED BY OWLS really are back with a brand new single and an accompanying hilariously themed music video for the outrageously titled “My Optician Called Me A Poser Because I Couldn’t Read The Sanguisugabogg Logo”.

On the divine inspiration behind the new track and video, vocalist Sam Strachan states:

“This song and music video is about unreadable metal logos. A band’s logo tells you a lot about the band: their sound, their image, and whether or not your nan would approve of them. I’ve always been drawn to the more over-the-top ridiculous logos. If your logo looks like a pile of sticks or a doctor’s written note inked in gore, then I’m probably going to check out your band by default. Remember kids: the more illegible the logo, the greater the band!”

    Watch the music video HERE.

If you can’t get enough of RAISED BY OWLS, then fear not. Regarding the band’s next chapter, Sam continues:

“This single ushers in a new era for the band as we start gearing up for a new record cycle. We’re always aiming to improve our output and push the band as far as it will go, whether that be sonically, visually, or in the live environment. This single is the next step in the band’s evolution; we’ve taken what we’ve done before and made it bigger and better in all areas.”

Have you ever wondered what you’d get if you mixed a metal show with a Saturday Night TV Gameshow? Neither have we, but regardless…

RAISED BY OWLS and Mangata Music present: 🎉THE BIG METAL GAME SHOW!🎉 Come and witness the madness of these three very unique shows this November, as the band gallivant around England:

Fri 27th Nov – MANCHESTER Rebellion

Sat 28th Nov – LONDON Oslo

Sun 29th Nov – BRISTOL The Fleece

With Nic-Cage Against The Machine as direct support, and Malamutant in Manchester, Uridium in London, and Priest Crippler in Bristol, here’s what you can expect from these headline shows:

    • Crowd Participation!
    • Plenty of Prizes to be won!
    • Gameshow stage show and props!
    • Mascots!
    • Metal classics played!
    • All of Raised By Owls’ greatest hits!
    • Inflatables & loads more!

Game show presenter, a.k.a. ringleader Sam Strachan states:

“Anybody who has seen Raised By Owls live in the last 2 years will know that we’ve been hosting a ‘mid-set game show’ during our performances, where members of the audience participate to win prizes. It’s been so much fun that we’re taking that idea and expanding it into a full headline performance. These will be our biggest headline shows to date, with a full scale game-show production in tow.”

    ABOUT RAISED BY OWLS:

Raised By Owls are an extreme metal band spawned from the depths of Derbyshire. Fusing together musical elements from various strains of metal and imbuing the lyrics with a humour moulded by misspent youths lived in rural England, Raised By Owls promise to provide you with a mild sonic disturbance, followed by an immediate apology.

Don’t let the daft lyrics and entertaining videos fool you, though: beneath the silliness lurks genuinely accomplished musicians who sweat over every riff, rhythm, and ridiculous chorus with the dedication of people who really should have been doing something more sensible with their evenings. It seems the internet agrees, as the band have now racked up 2.5 million views on YouTube alone, which is either a testament to their craft or proof that a lot of people are very bored. We prefer to think it’s the former.

    BAND MEMBERS:

    Sam Strachan – vocals

    Tobias Cope – bass

    Alex LeGrice – guitars

    Mark Bainbridge – guitars

    Lee Deane – drums

    Jamie Greatorex – mascots
